Emotional MRI

An MRI is a machine that spits out an image of your insides.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I would prefer not to know what it looks like in there!

Sometimes I am the same with my emotions. I’d rather not know they exist and fight hard to avoid them

Emotions are a part of life and as a leader I have to be aware of them

I want to give you a 3 step emotional MRI

  1. Intentional thinking. Go for a walk in a quiet place and reflect on a moment that was emotional. What did you feel? Why did you feel it? What did the person or situation do that caused that emotion?
  2. Intentional writing. Ask those same questions but write them out. The writing slows you down and clarifies your emotions.
  3. Intentional speaking. Get feedback from a friend. Share what happened, how you felt, where it came from and let them speak. You listen.

These three steps help turn the emotional chaos into a clear emotional awareness.
