An MRI is a machine that spits out an image of your insides.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I would prefer not to know what it looks like in there!
Sometimes I am the same with my emotions. I’d rather not know they exist and fight hard to avoid them
Emotions are a part of life and as a leader I have to be aware of them
I want to give you a 3 step emotional MRI
- Intentional thinking. Go for a walk in a quiet place and reflect on a moment that was emotional. What did you feel? Why did you feel it? What did the person or situation do that caused that emotion?
- Intentional writing. Ask those same questions but write them out. The writing slows you down and clarifies your emotions.
- Intentional speaking. Get feedback from a friend. Share what happened, how you felt, where it came from and let them speak. You listen.
These three steps help turn the emotional chaos into a clear emotional awareness.
