Introverted Integrators carry around a lot of internal stress. When your job in an organization is to make sure all things move smoothly, you tend to take some of the chaos, internalize it, and project harmony. For this reason, I recommend having some time to unwind the internal chaos into something that makes sense. Enter my newly discovered favorite tool, the Clarity Block.
EOS uses language called “Clarity Break” to define the time one steps away from the business to process what’s going on in the business. You create space for ideas to hop out of your brain and onto the page. It’s more than a break and less of a day, I’ll call it a block.
What is it?
3-4 hours of blocked off time for rest, retreat, and recharge.
Rest – Allow your body and mind to cease for a period of time.
Retreat – Get away from the things that normally stress you out.
Recharge – Come back to work with vigor to make stuff happen in your business.
How?
Leave, Do, Think, Expect
Leave – Get out of the office. The office has a way of sucking in your mind, body, and time. Don’t allow a hint of temptation.
Do – Do something new and different (I like walks and new locations). Stimulate your senses in a new way, it can inspire a helpful new thought, idea, or solution.
Think – Processing time to organize the events, the people issues, and the ideas.
Recharge – Literally receive energy and peace. Energy from the excitement you’ll feel, and peace from having a plan (or a next step).
Result
You have more to give to your team (energy, ideas, care, clarity, etc.)
